July 22

In the morning, with my class I went to the Cartier foundation, which is basically just a place where they have different exhibitions. The artist that was being exhibited was Cesar. It was very strange; sculptures of thumbs and weird shapes that looked like dripping molasses. Oh and also there were a lot of cars that had been crushed into cube shapes lol. It was different. In the back of the building were enormous stacks of condensed papers from newspapers and magazines. You’ll see in the picture, lol. The building itself was pretty neat though, just very contemporary. There was an outside wall of glass that was open at the top for trees to grow over from the inside of the wall. And there was a garden throughout the inside wall of glass that had a concept of being “untouched” and natural. The designer didn’t want a fake manicured garden, so it was just basically all weeds growing wild lol. Then after lunch break we were back in the classroom working on our projects. I also mapped out where I would like to go once Dori leaves me in London. It’s not confirmed yet.

Later for dinner I got rotisserie chicken that I had been craving throughout the day. It’s 3 euros for a half chicken; I thought it was a pretty good meal. =)

My roommate and I have been trying to watch some French tv the past couple days in our room at night to see how much we can understand, but they speak so fast! I’m afraid my few French classes have not prepared me to understand anything on tv. I’ll keep practicing; I really do like the language and I’m getting better I hope.
